Albarracín, climbing boulder!!

Hello, climbing friends !!!

We are already here again, with a new post about a very special place for boulder climbing, Albarracín. This municipality located in the province of Teruel, within the autonomous community of Aragon. It is a place with a lot of history. It is surrounded by the river Guadalaviar, and in the north is the mountain range of Albarracín and in the south the Universal mountains.

This place is well known by climbers who practice boulder climbing. For those who do not know what is boulder climbing, it is a variant that consists of climbing walls of 8 meters without clamping measures, only with a kind of portable mattress (crash-pad) on the floor.

In Albarracín, more specifically in Los Pinares de Rodeno, there are the ideal geographical conditions to practice this type of climbing. This is due to weather agents and the passage of water from rivers, in addition to the type of limestone that predominates in this place.

In this area and its surroundings it has more than 1700 blocks in 17 sectors. Some of them are prohibited. I leave you below, those sectors in which climbing is allowed.

-Sector Arrastradero (341 bloques)

-Cabrerizo (57 bloques)

-Entre Aguas (141 bloques)

-Entre Tierras (73 bloques)

-La Fuente (80 bloques

-Mezquita (41 bloques)

-Parking (83 bloques)

-Pinturas (10 bloques)

-Techos (184 bloques)

-Tierra media (207 bloques)

IMPORTANT!! At certain times of the year, the influx of people by the authorities in these areas may be reduced, because there are sectors that use the birds to temporarily nest.

How from Albarracín to the sectors?

The transfer from Albarracín to the place where the climbing sectors are located should be done by car, since it is 5 km from the town without any public transport making this route. Once we are in the town you should take the street LLano del Arrabal, where there are some signs that indicate the camping and cave paintings. Following this road you will reach a detour in the direction of the campsite (left) and right, you must take the latter. You will follow this road that will take you to the first car park “Cabrerizos Parking” located on the left, or you can continue forward where the main parking is located. From there you will have to move through the maps of the sectors that we leave here below.

Here we leave some images obtained from
